SOLAR ACTIVITY UPDATE: Trio of C-Class Flares/Approaching AR (Feb 12th, 2012).
Analysis of Solar Active Regions and Activity from 10/2100Z to 11/2100Z: Solar activity was low due to a trio of C7 x-ray events. Regions 1416 (S19W02) and 1417 (N16E44) each produced C7 events at 10/2352Z and 11/1854Z respectively. The third C7 event was observed at 11/1004Z from behind the east limb near N25. The activity behind the NE limb portends the return of old Region 1402 (N26, L=218). Region 1416 continued its growth phase, both in area and spot count, and maintained a beta-gamma magnetic configuration. At about 10/1900Z, a 27 degree long segmented filament erupted in the NE quadrant of the disk. The ENE to WSW oriented filament was centered at N29E14. An associated CME was observed lifting of the NE limb, first visible in SOHO LASCO C2 imagery at 10/2012Z. www.linktospace.com

SOLAR ACTIVITY UPDATE: M3.2-Class Solar Flare/Earth Bound Full Halo CME(Jan 19th,2012).
CME is heading for Earth, and they say strong geomagnetic storms are possible (although not guaranteed) when the cloud arrives this weekend. Analysis of Solar Active Regions and Activity from 18/2100Z to 19/2100Z: Solar activity was moderate. Region 1402 (N29E15) produced an M3/2n flare at 19/1605Z associated with a Type IV radio sweep and a full-halo CME (estimated plane-of-sky speed 1100 km/s). Region 1402 showed minor spot growth in its trailer portion and was classified as an Dko-type group with a beta magnetic configuration. Region 1401 (N18E13) showed some spot and penumbral development in its intermediate portion and was classified as an Eko-type with a beta-gamma magnetic configuration. Weak Type II radio sweeps were observed at 19/1252Z (estimated speed 933 km/s) and 19/1933Z (estimated speed 694 km/s). No new regions were numbered. spaceweather.com http

How To Go To Heaven: www.jesus-is-savior.com all-things-new.net CME's Cause Earthquakes As posted in the Chile quake thread CME's happened right before the Japan and Chile thread. A scientist agrees with the observation: Title: Sun-earth environment study to understand earthquake prediction Authors: Mukherjee, S. Affiliation:AA(Jawaharlal Nehru University, Remote sensing Applications Laboratory School of Environmental sciences Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, 110067, India ; dr.saumitramukherjee@usa.net) Publication: American Geophysical Union, Spring Meeting 2007, abstract #IN33A-01 Publication Date:05/2007 Earthquake prediction is possible by looking into the location of active sunspots before it harbours energy towards earth. Earth is a restless planet the restlessness turns deadly occasionally. Of all natural hazards, earthquakes are the most feared. For centuries scientists working in seismically active regions have noted premonitory signals. Changes in thermosphere, Ionosphere, atmosphere and hydrosphere are noted before the changes in geosphere. The historical records talk of changes of the water level in wells, of strange weather, of ground-hugging fog, of unusual behaviour of animals (due to change in magnetic field of the earth) that seem to feel the approach of a major earthquake. With the advent of modern science and technology the understanding of these pre-earthquake signals has become stronger enough to develop a methodology of earthquake prediction ...

Solar Activity and Cosmic Rays behind Global Warming (2-6)
Solar activity and cosmic rays behind Global Warming (theory) - climate researcher Henrik Svensmark´s scientific work gives a strong indication, that global warming and climate changes NOT are caused by CO2 emissions, but by a combination of solar activity, cosmic rays and cloud formations. He is the mastermind behind this controversial theory and one of the few who speaks against Al Gore and the global warming alarmism movement, originally masterminded by Maurice Strong, a dirty Rothschild henchman. People in this video are: Henrik Svensmark (physicist at the Danish National Space Center in Copenhagen) Paal Brekke (Solar physisist at the SOHO Satellite Project) Eugene Parker (Solar astrophysicist at the university of Chicago) Eigil Friss Christensen (Director of the Danish National Space Center in Copenhagen) Nir Shaviv (astro physicist at the Hebrew university of Jerusalem) Jan Veizer (Professor of Earth Sciences at the University of Ottawa) That the climate on earth is driven by outside factors like solar activity, cosmic rays and other influences, is not only a Svensmark theory. A geologist from NASA Earth Observatory, Lorraine Lisiecki, has recently April 6, 2010, discovered that patterns connects the regular changes of the Earth's orbital cycle to changes in the Earth's climate. SOLAR ACTIVITY UPDATE: XM-And a Rash of C-Class Flares (March 6th, 2012).
STRONG SOLAR ACTIVITY: Solar activity is now high. Big sunspot AR1429, which emerged on March 2nd, is crackling with strong flares. This morning brought the strongest so far--an X1-class eruption on March 5th at 0413 UT. The explosion also hurled a bright CME into space. According to analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab, the CME will probably miss Earth, although it will hit Mercury and Venus. Even if this CME misses, high-latitude sky watchers should still be alert for auroras in the nights ahead. An M2-class eruption from the same sunspot on March 4th produced another, wider CME that might yet intersect Earth. The cloud is expected to deliver a glancing blow to our planet's magnetic field on March 6th at 04:30 UT (+/- 7 hr).

SOLAR ACTIVITY UPDATE: Magnificent Sunspot 1339 Unleashing C and M-Class Flares (Nov 3rd, 2011).
MAGNIFICENT SUNSPOT: One of the largest sunspots in years is rotating over the sun's northeastern limb. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory took this picture of AR1339 during the early hours of Nov. 3rd. Measuring some 40000 km wide and at least twice that in length, the sprawling sunspot group is an easy target for backyard solar telescopes. Two or three of the sunspot's dark cores are wider than Earth itself. Naturally, such a large sunspot has potential for strong flares. NOAA forecasters estimate a 50% chance of M-class solar flares during the next 24 hours. One such eruption has already occured: An M4-flare at 2200 UT on Nov. 2nd produced a bright flash of extreme UV radiation (SDO movie) and hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) into space. The CME is not heading our way. Future CMEs could have greater effect as AR1339 turns toward Earth in the days ahead.

SOLAR ACTIVITY UPDATE: Emerging and Departing Sunspots (Jan 27th, 2012).
MORE SOLAR ACTIVITY: Sunspot AR1402, the source of this week's powerful M9-class solar flare, is acting up again. On Jan. 26th between 0100 UT and 0600 UT, a sequence of C-class magnetic eruptions around the active region hurled a bright coronal mass ejection over the sun's north pole. Sunspot 1408 is directly facing Earth, but it has a simple magnetic field that does not pose a threat for strong flares.

SOLAR ACTIVITY UPDATE: Filament Eruption/CME and an M1.0-Class Solar Flare ( Feb 6th, 2012).
BACK TO WORK (UPDATE): After a quiet weekend with no flares of any significance, the sun went back to work on Monday morning and launched a bright coronal mass ejection (CME) into space. The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory recorded the expanding cloud during the early hours of Feb. 6th: New images from the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) show that this was a frontside event. The explosion occured when a magnetic filament draped over the sun's northeastern limb rose up and snapped. An extreme UV movie from SDO shows the structure lifting off. spaceweather.com

SOLAR ACTIVITY UPDATE: New Sunspot 1401 and 1402 are Emerging over the NE Limb (Jan 14th, 2012).
M-FLARE: Today at 1318 UT, Earth-orbiting satellites detected an M1-class solar flare. The source is a new sunspot emerging over the sun's northeastern limb. These sunspots have the potential for strong eruptions. Sunspot 1401 produced an M1-flare on Jan. 14th. Two days earlier, while it was still on the farside of the sun, sunspot 1402 produced a partially-eclipsed flare of uncertain magnitude that created waves of ionization in the atmosphere over Europe. Stay tuned for more updates...
